5 Great Bib Shorts with Pockets for Cyclists

I love a good pair of bib shorts with pockets when cycling.

When gravel cycling in the heat, I typically wear dry-fit t-shirts or tank tops. These clothes usually don’t have back pockets like cycling jerseys.

A pair of cycling bib shorts with pockets make it easy to carry stuff and get to it quickly when I don’t have a jersey with pockets available.

But there are so many options out there to choose from.

Well, I’m a big fan of cycling apparel so I purchase quite a bit of it and put it to the test.

In this article, I’ll provide 5 different bibs shorts with pockets for you to consider adding to your cycling apparel wardrobe.

Please leave me a comment telling me about other ones that you’ve tried and enjoyed so that I know what to buy next.

Bib Shorts with Pockets

How I Rate these Bib Shorts with Pockets

I’ll only post ones that I’ve used for a while so that I can report accurately on them.

I’m considering several things in these reviews.

I’m considering the pocket durability and construction, the comfort and durability of the material used to make the bib shorts, the padding or chamois, and other features that will enhance their benefits.

It’s important to note that I’m not getting paid to post any of these reviews. This is all from my own experience and personal accounts of using these products.

Ultralight Bikepacking Guide

1 – The Black Bibs Cargo Bib Shorts

The bib shorts with pockets by The Black Bibs are by far my favorite cargo bib shorts so far.

At just $85.00 a pair, the Black Bibs Cargo Bib Shorts are a steal, especially considering their quality and functionality.

They’re made in the USA.

You can get them in black, olive, or navy. I chose black.

You can get the regular inseam or a shorter inseam. I chose the shorter inseam because I like the way it looks. It’s not too short but also not right above my knees, either.

The shorts are true to size and very comfortable. They’re made well and are not transparent. When I put them on, there were no stitch tears.

The pocket is made from mesh and is very breathable. I can hold my phone, keys, snacks, and even my GoPro Camera on a handheld mount. There are a few extra pockets on the rear bib portion, too.

The leg grippers are very comfortable, and the chamois keep me pain-free during longer rides.

The only improvement I’d like to see is more color options.

2 – NeoPro Bib Shorts with Pockets

These are definitely a favorite bib shorts with pockets.

NeoPro is an Austrian cycling apparel company that is very active in the cycling scene.

What’s funny is that they said they’d never made cargo bib shorts. Now they do, and I’m guessing it’s one of their better products because they’re sold out quite a bit. If you get a chance, get your pair before they sell out again.

The NeoPro Bib Shorts are a dream to wear, thanks to the stretchy, high-compression spandex fabric that feels like second skin.

The pocket and leg grippers are made of the same material.

They’re available in a few different color options, including black, navy, and other colors.

The pocket can hold my phone, keys, snacks, and, yes, even my GoPro.

The chamois is one of the most comfortable chamois I’ve ever used, too.

My only suggestion is to vent the pocket with mesh. It’s not vented, so if you sweat a lot, you might get whatever you have in it a little wet from sweat.

3 – Aero Tech Designs Gel Touring Bibs

I’ve been buying from Aero Tech Designs since I’ve been cycling.

They made my first pair of padded cycling shorts, which lasted around 10 years of heavy use.

They make their products in the USA. They’re very durable and comfortable, too. I have more apparel from this company than I have regular clothes. They also make unpadded options, just in case you want to wear spandex shorts for hiking, running, and other activities.

But the Gel Touring Bibs are definitely worth getting as far as bib shorts with pockets go.

The Aero Tech Designs Gel Touring Bibs boast the largest pocket I’ve seen on cargo bibs, and it’s made from durable, breathable mesh that can handle anything you put in it.

They have a lot of different color options, too.

If they had a shorter inseam option, these would probably be my favorite. They’re at least my second favorite cargo bib shorts.

The only thing I would improve is using a different chamois. I’m not a huge fan of gel pads, but it is still fairly comfortable.

How to Wear Bike Shorts

4 – Pearl Izumi Interval Cargo Bib Shorts

The Pearl Izumi Interval bib shorts with pockets are also a great choice.

I have the black ones. They come with two side pockets and a few pockets on the rear strap of the bib portion.

The material is strong, durable, and does not stitch tear.

The pockets are strong and have slight mesh to make them breathable. They can fit my phone but not my bigger items like the GoPro camera. You basically put one thing in each pocket.

The padding is comfortable as well.

The material, pockets, and leg grippers are very stiff, though. The whole thing feels a little small for its size. I would almost recommend sizing up when in between sizes just to be safe.

I think these bibs would be better if the material they used was more stretchy, not so stiff, and less giving if that makes sense.

5 – Baleaf Bib Shorts with Pockets

These are great if you want something comfortable but affordable.

The pricing for these bib shorts with pockets is very reasonable. You might spend about $60 or less for the bibs and shipping altogether. Baleaf always has good deals and sales, too.

The material is durable, although it doesn’t seem to last as long as others.

I do get some stitch tearing when I put it on, but the material used to make the bibs does not have holes or transparency.

The pockets are big enough for your phone and other smaller items.

The bib is comfortable, and while the chamois does the job, it’s not as comfortable as the chamois in higher-end shorts. I tend to get some discomfort on longer riders when wearing them.

There really aren’t a whole lot of color options, either.

But if you need something really affordable, I recommend trying these bib shorts with pockets.
